SOCCER SEMINAR A HUGE SUCCESS!
Representatives from Various High Schools, California Elite Soccer Club (CESC) , Antelope Valley College, and the L.A. Galaxy presented a seminar aiming to help the Antelope Valleys Soccer Community better develop soccer players. By emphasizing a guided pathway of development through a vertical learning structure, the seminar addressed the importance of creating a positive understanding of big picture. “A lot of planning went into this seminar and we are delighted at how well the presentation delivered,” said Coach Gordon, the lead presenter of five guest speakers and Director of Coaching for the California Elite Soccer Club and Quartz Hill High Schools Girls Program.
The Free Soccer Seminar was carefully designed to help promote developmental soccer techniques for ALL Antelope Valley Soccer Parents, Coaches, Players and Friends, as-well-as present a process of formal coaching, including a pathway to college play.
Coach Gordon and Guest speakers Sean Franklin (L.A. Galaxy), Jerry Stupar (A.V. College Girls Head Coach), Robert Gonzalez (Highland High School J.V. Boys Head Coach / CESC Head Coach) and Brian Brooks (Quartz Hill High School J.V. Boys Head Coach / CESC Head Coach) explained how organizations can apply formal coaching to a variety of areas including infrastructure, psychological, fitness, technical and tactical development “This seminar gave us an opportunity to speak about the advantages of developmental soccer but also, just as important, to create an open forum for questions and answers to be provided while listening to each speaker on the unique set of challenges and experiences they have faced to enjoy success on and off the field of play. "The Seminar was invaluable. “It is exciting to help bring the Antelope Valley Soccer Community together and spend time discussing the key elements of developing soccer players, in hopes of raising the level of play" according to coach Stupar of AVC.
Coach Gordon has a wealth of knowledge about developmental training and looks to ensure player success in the valley by organizing such events as today's seminar. "Development is not going to occur through one seminar. It is a partnership, so to speak, of all the people involved. It is said that an organization is only as strong as its individual members involved. As part of the Antelope Valley Soccer Community, it was our goal to get everyone involved. To provide a defined strategy for the development of our players. Today, we worked hard to provide expertise, tools and a structure of development to help the AV achieve better development for our soccer players."
L.A. Galaxy All-Star Sean Franklin was excited to talk more about the importance of education and developmental soccer. He discussed the importance of hard work, the desire to achieve and importance of formal coaching. "Sean is a humble man with extra ordinary soccer talent. His willingness to inspire the Antelope Valley Youth is amazing. His emphasis on developmental training and education really hit home for many of the spectators" said coach Gonzalez. At the end of the seminar, Sean was all to happy to sign autographs and take pictures with everyone involved.
